Where there is no wounding, there can be no healing…

No care is taken to show, in the light of the doctrine of the cross, how God is glorified in the salvation of a sinner.

Where there is no wounding, there can be no healing, of the conscience. The doctrine that can do neither can only do deceiver’s work. A sinner having peace without knowing, or caring to know, how the law which he has transgressed hath been magnified, how the justice that demanded his death hath been satisfied, how the name of God which was by him dishonored has by Christ been glorified, and how what availed for these ends can be a ground of hope to him in the presence of the God with whom he hath to do, may have enjoyment, may be zealous, may be active, but cannot have “a good hope through grace.” – John Kennedy, Hyper Evangelism
