The Scottish Metrical Psalter (1650)

A couple of links to the Psalms sung from the 1650 Psalter here or here. The Psalter is a wonderful way to supplement your reading and devotional time, may you find these links helpful.

Thank you for connecting us to these resources! I have a copy of the Psalter you mention, plus a few other versions of metrical Psalters still in use. I also have a cassette of some of these metrical Psalms being sung as on these sites you linked. More of this, rather than less, needs to be done in our worship! I really appreciated it when I learned that Lloyd-Jones’ practice was to begin each worship service with the singing of a Psalm! I believe he mentions this in his treatment of Eph. 5:19. I have tried to be an influence in that direction, and have introduced many of the metrical Psalter versions into the worship in our gathering here. Good stuff! Too good to be neglected on the dust heap of history! Thanks again.

It is good to know we are not alone in believing the Psalms should be sung more during worship. As I type I’m listening to Psalm 45, truly amazing and truly beautiful. It’s funny that you mentioned Dr. Lloyd-Jones this morning, I just read from his studies on the sermon on the mount.
