Is the Blessing for you?

Ron Wood,

Speak unto Aaron and unto his sons, saying, On this wise ye shall bless the children of Israel, saying unto them, The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace. And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel; and I will bless them.

(Num 6:23-27)

There is in this text a fountain of wonder and awe at the fathomless bounty of God toward His people.  Notice that I said toward Hs people. This benediction concerning the blessing of God is for the elect people of God alone. Aaron stood as high priest for Israel alone and not for those who were outside the chosen people. His pronouncing of the blessing was for a particular people and concerned them alone.  This blessing is for spiritual Israel today and those of you who do not believe and trust the Lord Jesus Christ have no part or hope in it as long as you run in your wicked way and obstinate rebellion.  The Scriptures nowhere give you reason to think that God’s blessing is on you while you remain in unbelief.  Don’t be deceived by the traditions and notions of religion which has taught you that God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life.  He may do so but while you continue to rebel and live your way without regard for the glory of God and even your own soul the Scriptures declare plainly that it isn’t the love of God that abides on you but the wrath of God.( John 3:36) You dare not hope in the love of God while you consider the precious blood of the Son of God to be of no value and nothing to be desired. As long as you think you can sin and live a life of lust and pleasure in the evil of this world you are a fool to think that God will wink at your sin because He loves you. There is a price to be paid for sin and it will be paid either by you in everlasting torment or it has already been paid by the death of our great Savior the Lord Jesus Christ. Run to Christ and surrender. Quit your war with God and find rest for your souls at the feet of Him who is able to save to the uttermost all that come to God by Him.
